“The thing is,” said Gia. “Dr. Morley’s hiding something.”

“Like what?” asked Holly.

They were in Truro buying under garments for Gia. While cleaning out Gia’s closet, Holly had pulled out tattered clothes from the drawer and declared they were unsuitable for a honeymoon.

“Well, I wasn’t going to tell you because I know how you jump to conclusions, but I did a little research on our young doc.”

“You don’t still have your sights set on him do you?” asked Gia.

“Nope. Of course not. He has an addictive personality.”

Gia doubted that even this information would prevent Holly from chasing an eligible bachelor and she wasn’t convinced that Holly had marked him off her list.

Holly handed her friend skimpy underwear that Gia thought would be very uncomfortable. She looked at the price tag and shook her head. Ridiculous for a piece of string and a triangle of see-through cloth. She turned to a rack with lace edged stretchy material that would at least cover her bottom.

“What do you mean?” asked Gia.

“He was addicted to Pethidine. I bet that’s why he moved down south to get away from his past. He was writing prescriptions for patients and then picking them up himself. The chemist figured it out when he started writing them for patients who had already died.”

“They can’t possibly know this at the nursing home. Have you told anyone?”
